- A peasant household. The farmyard
is enclosed with wattle fences. The walls of the house would
be made of similar wattle, covered with daub, a mixture of mud,
dung, lime and cow hair.
- Inside the house there is little
furniture. The inmates are presumably sitting on benches or stools,
and there is a wide bed without canopy or curtains. Spare clothing
is hung on rails on the walls. There is a stone fireplace, indicating
a fairly prosperous household, although the chimney emerging
from the roof is made of wattle, not stone.
